Short biography

Annika Böddeling from Hamburg, born 1986, studied economics and philosophy at Witten/Herdecke University, the London School of Economics and Political Sciences and Cambridge University. After high school, she helped found a microfinance organisation during a yearlong stay on Zanzibar. During her studies, she gained further professional experience with the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Ramallah and the German Development Bank (KfW) in Cairo in private and financial sector development. As a Mercator fellow, Annika will focus on the potential of market incentives for the sustainable use of environmental goods.
