Executive Bodies
The General Assembly decides how the foundation's purpose should be achieved and how the annual grant budget should be appropriated. It appoints the members of the Advisory Board and the President.
The Advisory Board establishes the foundation's overall strategic orientation.

The Advisory Board Committee decides on whether to approve projects and funding requests which exceed 50,000 euros.
The members of the Advisory Board Committee are Rüdiger Frohn, Ralf Ruhrmann and Dr Michael Schmidt.
The President attends the Advisory Board Committee meetings.
The President conducts Stiftung Mercator's business, represents the foundation externally and makes decisions on projects and funding requests which do not exceed a total of 50,000 euros in each individual case and 1 million euros per annum in total.
